Windows User Groups Types

Windows User Groups are being formed around certain types of audience. They are usually independently run and they consist of volunteers who meet regularly in order to contribute to the development and improvement of the Windows OS. They chat about various topics and they promote the exchange of information regarding their area of interest by encouraging individuals to engage in an inexpensive way to receive technical content, education and an opportunity to meet with other specialists in the area in order to share ideas. Traditionally those who are interested in the Microsoft products, technologies and platform are those who participate.

As mentioned above, the Windows user groups are targeted at certain audiences. For instance, there are several groups meant for developers. INETA user groups is one of these group which Microsoft has partnered with and which has the mission to support the developers and the IT professionals in carrying out good quality work. Also, the SQL PASS User Groups are independent, not for profit associations that gather professionals with the aim to support, educate, and promote the Microsoft SQL Server community. These groups include both local user groups and special interest groups and an annual summit is held, namely the PASS Summit.

Another audience-targeted group is that meant for IT professionals. GITCA is one of them and it has the aim to support the development and improvement of information technology through promoting IT products and solutions. This is another group that Microsoft has partnered with and which offers professionals with a great deal of opportunities to learn more and share their knowledge on the platform created among these groups. Also, Mac users, consumers and PC users may benefit from the Mindshare or MSN Computer and Internet user groups that have been especially designed to meet the expectations of this type of audience.
